We are now into our first full week of returning to our regular lesson schedule and although things look different in the barn, it is wonderful to see everyone again. As we rejoice (and are relieved) about being back in the saddle, we are happy to have Sydney Anningson as our featured junior rider of the month!

Sydney is a wonderfully engaged Lancer. She first came to Lancers in the summer of 2016 for a beginner camp. That autumn she was able to start our junior beginner course. The love of horses led her to want to pursue riding. Sydney is now in Ride 6 and has developed into a fine young rider! She is always willing to help and is a fantastic worker during August clean up, and has helped unload many hay and shavings deliveries.

Sydney is a great student. She asks questions in her rides and has achieved her Rider Level __. Last winter, Sydney experienced an injury that had her out of the saddle for an extended period of time. Yet, not wanting to miss a learning opportunity, Sydney still attended her lessons to watch, and continue to share camaraderie with her fellow riders.

Sydney has recently been riding Simba but her favourite Lancer horse is Sadie! Sydney participates in many of the extra-curriculars at Lancers. She always participates in training shows and loves attending Salmon River camp where she has had some of her favourite Lancer memories. She has also helped create many lasting memories for other campers as she calls out for them to “hussle!” on their way to morning calisthenics and her love of campfire games. We can’t wait for her to be of age to join the ranks of our Leaders in Training. Sydney appreciates that Lancers gives her a sense of responsibility, great friendships, and a good source of exercise!

We are excited to see Sydney continue to develop as a rider and as a Lancer. We hope that one day she may join our employment roster of stablehands and barn monitors!
