Our Featured Horse of the Month is Sadie!
Since we started our Friday features, all of the current Lancer horses have now been featured at least once, so we thought it would be fun to revisit some of the horses, especially since so much can change over time. Sadie has now been with us for over four years, and has proven to be a wonderful Lancer.
We stated in her original feature that she can be a challenging ride, and that has remained true from day one. Despite the challenge, she has a way of winning over hearts, and is definitely a barn favorite.
She is usually ridden by our more experienced juniors and adults, but makes her way into lower level lessons as well, because she is still very trustworthy and safe. She did manage to be excused from the Musical Ride after her first year, though she still fills in as a spare when some of the other horses are on vacation.
Sadie is always a popular choice at our training shows and has made her way to a number of off-property horse shows in the Jumper ring. She catches everybody’s eyes as the speedy palamino from Lancers as she zooms around her courses. She also enjoys the cross country jumps on the trails when we go to our Salmon River camp (which is sadly cancelled this year).
Sadie is now 17 years old but shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon! She has become boss mare in her turn-out group, affectionately known as the mis-fits, so has earned much respect from her fellow equines.
