Our featured horse for the month of is Ben!
As children prepare to head back to school and we get geared up for a new year of lessons at Lancers, we can’t help but feel enormous appreciation for Ben.
Ben is a beautiful palomino horse standing just every so slightly too tall to be considered a pony. Ben excels at just about everything, but especially at building confidence, keeping riders safe, and spreading love. While he has done his fair share of winning at horse shows, he truly shines in our beginner course and Therapeutic Riding programs.
While Ben is sometimes under appreciated by his novice riders for being “too slow”, he is every instructor’s dream. He will always keep an unstable or timid rider safe, but will step up and perform beautifully as they gain more skills.
Ben is also our go-to horse for some of our community outreach projects, and you may have seen him walking the streets of Halifax on his way to visit Ronald McDonald House Charities Atlantic or Hospice Halifax.
He is affectionately called “Gentle Ben” by many, and his show name is very appropriately “Purely Gold”. We regularly marvel at his patience and good will.
