Our featured Junior Rider of the Month is Grace Leach!

Grace started riding at Lancers in a summer camp with her cousin because they thought it would be something fun to try, little did she know she would still be here 7 years later. Although she was a little nervous, Grace fell in love with horses and the sport. “I was nervous around the horses but Charlotte Grace helped me get over my fears and become the rider I am today.” Over the years we have watched Grace gain so much confidence and skill while riding and in the barn. Grace has always had a way with horses and they respond beautifully to her despite her fears.

Grace is a rider in the Musical Ride, she has taken part in Pony Club activities, and ridden in training shows, she is a casual stablehand and a part of the Junior Executive! Grace’s favorite memories at Lancers are at Salmon River camp each year, Grace brings so much added value to camp as she is a wonderful friend to everyone she crosses paths with, there is always a lot of laughter when Grace is around.

Grace’s favorite horses are Baloo (now retired) and Oakley. Anybody who knows these two horses knows what a challenge it is to ride them well. “ Baloo helped my confidence. My favorite is now Oakley because she’s so sweet and just understands me. Even though I have had a few falls I still love her.”

Grace enjoys learning new things and the friendships she has made at Lancers. “ I love walking into the barn and seeing all the horses greet me. When I get on a horse I feel calm and centered”
