Our Featured Junior Rider of the Month is Amina Rahman!
Amina has been riding at Lancers for almost four years. After spending some time stopping by the outdoor paddock to visit with the horses she joined our summer camps and then eventually our junior beginner course. Now Amina is in Ride 8 and has become an active Lancer junior member participating in her regular lessons, rider level testing, training shows and the Downtown Horse Show. She’s always willing to help out another rider in need, do extra chores and volunteers with our shavings and hay deliveries.
Amina loves the community that Lancers has built among our members. She says Lancers is “a very friendly and safe environment, where members take care of each other, share their experiences, and learn from each other.” She also loves the “volunteer spirit” at Lancers and is impressed by how much gets done by our volunteers.
When asked about her favourite Lancer memory she can’t choose just one. “One of my best memories is when I first jumped with Alice – it was really a small cross rail, but it felt really nice. Another memory is when I won Division Champion during downtown show during 2019. Another great memory was being an honour guard for a wedding, and when we walked to the Church. It was really fun as all the cars passing by were honking at us."
Amina is so grateful to have Lancers in her life “Lancers brought horses into my (and my family's) life and gave me a new level of appreciation of horse riding. I simply can't think of any better sport than horse riding!”
Amina is always genuinely interested in learning more and is a wonderful student who is a pleasure to teach. Her love of horses and equestrian sport is unmistakable.
In the short-term, Amina hopes to continue improving her riding skills so she can one day soon be a part of our musical ride. Looking forward to the future she hopes she can gain enough skills to become an instructor.
