Our Featured Junior Rider for February is Omar Abdelwahab

“Lancers has helped me relax and calm down from the frustrating things that happen in my school day and I am very thankful for that. Lancers has also made me mentally stronger”.  - Omar

Omar started at Lancers in our junior beginner course in September, 2018. From the very first day, Omar was acutely aware of how much work both physically and mentally goes into the sport and over time, he came to appreciate and love doing that work. He embodies the Lancer spirit by helping others.

Although he has enjoyed Ben and Rainey in the past, Omar’s current favourite horse is Bud. Omar appreciates that Bud is nice and gentle which makes him enjoy being in Bud’s company. Company and making friends, both horse and human, is what Omar really enjoys about Lancers. One of Omar’s fondest memories is when he participated in a Pony Club D Challenge at Lancers. He enjoyed that it was a great way to learn from other people. Overall, Omar shared with us, Lancers has impacted him by being able to calm down and has made him stronger mentally.

It has been wonderful to see Omar’s growth as a rider and young person. When he first started riding, he was much more timid and quiet and could sometimes get frustrated. It has been marvelous to experience his change as he is now a lively member of his ride group and he has built a fortitude. He rises to challenges and gets to the other side. In watching him work with the horses and his peers, it is clear he is now a bright light in the barn. In the future, Omar hopes to continue riding horses at Lancers as he enjoys being at Lancers and learning new things about horses. We’re equally excited to have him as a Lancer.
