Our Featured Junior Rider of the Month is Zoë Connell!

Zoë is a great example of a true horse lover. She spends her days thinking about the #HorsesOfHalifax, and then dreams about them at night. 

Zoë started riding in Vancouver when she was 4 years old. When she moved to Halifax in 2019, Zoë and her family would walk by the barn often and visit the horses outside, “They are magical. I love horses and was very excited for the opportunity to join Lancers.” Zoë started in the junior beginner course in January 2022. Since then she has been an honor guard in the Musical Ride and has taken part in the future leaders march break camp, Lancer days, and some training shows. Zoë enjoys being with the horses whether she is riding or taking care of them. 

Zoë’s favorite horse at Lancers is Scooby because “he’s so sweet”. In the future, Zoë is looking forward to becoming a barn monitor, and taking part in all aspects of Lancer life “Being a part of Lancers has made me happier.” Zoe always goes the extra mile to make sure the horses are happy too. Over the last year we have watched Zoë grow as a young horseperson. When she started she was timid around some of the horses and now she is confident and is helping encourage young Lancers to develop that confidence.
