Our Featured Adult Rider of the Month is Rachel Vassaur!
“Every time I walk past Lancers I pet any horse that is outside and say hi to all of them. I also bring an apple to the horses I ride.”
Rachel has been a member of the Therapeutic Riding Program at Lancers since 2021. She moved to Halifax a few months before the start of the pandemic. During the lockdowns, Rachel and her mom would go on lots of walks and pass by the horses outside in turnout. Rachel loved seeing them so much, her mom put her on the waitlist. “ I was SO EXCITED to get the call that I could join, I love it.”
Rachel rides on Sunday mornings in the fall and spring. Some of her favorite memories at Lancers are when the horses are dressed up for Halloween, her favorite costume this year was Batman. Her favorite lesson this year was when they got candy canes and delivered letters to Santa.
It is abundantly clear just how much Rachel LOVES the horses when she is at the barn. She brings so much joy to the staff, volunteers, horses, and fellow ride mates.
