Our Featured Adult Rider of the Month is Glenn Campbell!
Glenn began riding at Lancers just over a year ago in our Adult beginner course, though he did have one earlier experience riding an icelandic pony. Glenn is the 4th member of his family to join Lancers, following in the footsteps of both of his daughters and his wife. From the time he was a young boy but never had the opportunity. After seeing the rest of his family find the opportunity he felt he couldn’t wait any longer.
Glenn’s favorite horse is probably Chevy who he rides most often, but he has also really enjoyed riding Alice, Bud and Inga. Glenn is one of our tallest riders at the barn, therefore may never get a chance to ride some of our smaller horses and ponies but fortunately we also have many large horses who are quiet enough for beginners to learn from.
When asked what he enjoys most about Lancers Glenn echoed sentiments we hear often; “I think the things I like the most are that there are people of all ages riding and it is such a supportive community.” Glenn has jumped right in to become a part of this community by helping out with many shavings deliveries, volunteering at Pony Club Quizzes, and even being a horse show groom!
Glenn’s favourite memories of Lancers are those of his daughters and some of their earliest riding experiences. He says the impact that Lancers has had on his life has been “huge and too multifaceted to easily capture”
As far as where he sees himself going in the future he would like to do more jumping which he got his first taste of this summer. Perhaps one day he will need one of his daughters to be his horse show groom!
