Our Featured Volunteer of the month is Amy Zwicker!

Amy has been an invaluable part of the Lancer community, contributing her time, energy, and enthusiasm in so many ways. Amy started to get involved at Lancers last year when her daughter Vivian joined Ride 6 last winter. Amy is not currently riding although she grew up on a farm and had a horse named applesauce, she then rode again in Ontario in the 90s. Lancers has sparked her passion for horses once again, and she hopes to ride at Lancers someday!

Amy is the definition of a dedicated volunteer! Whether it’s proctoring exams, hauling hay, sewing patches, or organizing the Used Clothing Sale and the new Lancer store, Amy is also a member of our EDIA committee. We can’t forget to mention the hard work that Amy’s husband Kevin and Vivian put in this summer landscaping around the outdoor ring.

For Amy, volunteering at the Lancers stands out above other volunteer roles. “This is the only one with HORSES!”. She also shares that from the very first meeting with Claire, she knew the Lancers community would be a special place for her family to grow and contribute. She has immense respect for the history and the incredible programming at Lancers, and is deeply grateful to be part of this wonderful community.

One of Amy’s most treasured memories at Lancers came from this year’s Gala. After losing a cherished 40-year-old gold charm somewhere between her home, a Wanderers game, and the barn, Amy had long given up hope of finding it. But the charm had an unexpected journey—traveling through the barn and making its way to Evelyn, and then to Stephanie’s laundry! Three months later, Amy was surprised and delighted to receive it back at the Gala, proving that the Lancers community truly watches out for each other.

Thank you, Amy, for all your hard work, positivity, and kindness. We are so lucky to have you as part of the Lancers family!
