Our Featured Horse of the Month is Bud!
We would like to ring the new year and a new decade by featuring none other than Bud. Bud was the first horse we ever featured in our features of the month and is a most special mount here at Lancers. He turns 20 years old this year and has been at Lancers since he was three. You would never guess his age as he still has the personality of a young teenager.
Most herds of horses tend to be ruled by a mare but the Lancer herd is definitely ruled by Bud. He is one of our biggest horses and so can accommodate almost any sized rider but is most frequently seen looking after very tiny young children. In his younger years he competed over fences up to 3’6 but spends most of his time now in beginner lessons and has taken up a starring role in our therapeutic riding program.
Despite all the wisdom Bud has gained and shared throughout his years, he is still physically fit and just as agile as he was in his younger days. That we have many names on a waitlist to give Bud a retirement home speaks to his character. But above all, Bud is still extremely happy doing his job! It is little wonder that our Head Coach calls him “Mr. Wonderful” and that he is very much well-loved by all Lancers.
