Our Featured Junior Rider of the month is Charlie Boyle!
Charlie’s first introduction to Lancers was at a summer camp in 2017 when she was 8 years old. After many years on the waitlist Charlie started riding at Lancers in January 2022. “I started riding at Lancers because my friends rode there and I got to see how the program works and how well the horses are taken care of. I also really liked how you could learn so much about horses and how to take care of them. The group lesson program was also a reason to start riding at Lancers because I love that we get to meet people at our same level and have fun together doing the sport we all love.”
Charlie enjoys the community at Lancers “I love how everyone is united by horses: a collective love for horses, everyone wanting to learn more on how to take care of horses and everyone just enjoying the incredible creatures that we have the privilege to work with.” It was hard to pick just one favourite horse for Charlie, she loves them all! If she had to pick just one it would be Oliver “we have had so many amazing experiences together, like going to my first off property horse show and showing in general. He is such an amazing horse and I love him a lot.”
Charlie has done a great job exemplifying Lancer values. It is clear how much she cares for the horses and wants to learn in the saddle and on the ground. She is a great friend to everyone and has shown excellent leaderships skills. This summer Charlie learned that her family will be moving to the valley, so she won’t be able to continue riding at Lancers. We will really miss having Charlie around the barn, but we know she will carry her Lancer values with her, and be able to apply the horsemanship skills she has learned in her future riding endeavours.
