Our Featured Horse of the Month is Lola!
Despite our Covid 19 closure, the Horses of Halifax are still thriving and being cared for by our essential staff. We are all grateful for their care, and nobody more so than the horses themselves. Our featured horse of the month for May is Lola!
Lola is a beautiful Bay mare who has now been a Lancer horse for almost a year! She is 7 years old, very quiet, with a big ground covering stride. Before coming to Lancers she had primarily done dressage work, so she had to learn to jump. She took to jumping very well, and shows great promise. She went to one off-property show last year, and took part in our Downtown Horse Show. Lola has already had her first Honour Guard duty, where she stood guard at the burial for a former Lancer last Fall. We were really looking forward to seeing her go to shows this year, but it doesn't look like that will be happening any time soon due to horse shows having been suspended. Lola is a kind soul who wins people over with her sweet nature.
Over the winter Lola started experiencing some digestive issues, and had to spend some time at our vets in Windsor as well as the vet hospital in P.E.I.. Both clinics couldn't get over what a marvelous patient she was. it has been a long journey getting to the bottom of her health issues, but we are happy to report that she is doing very well now, and is full of life these days! She will require a special diet for the foreseeable future to stay in top form.
Lola is taking advantage of our closure to take her time getting well again. It will be a real treat for all of our riders when they get to ride this sweet mare again.
