Our Featured Horse of the Month is Candy

Candy is a 2001 Halflinger X Anglo-Arab mare. She has been with us for almost a year now and came to us with a wealth of experience in all things including Pony Club, and fox hunting! She has tested up to the “B” level in Pony Club and even though she is getting older, she still contains the enthusiasm and capabilities of a young horse. Before coming to Lancers, she had spent almost her entire life with one owner so it was a big transition for Candy to come to Lancers. Candy has since adapted very well to city life as well as being a wonderful school master for both children and adults alike. She loves to jump and is very scopey. She has very comfortable gates and is a great confidence booster.

Candy is a safe yet challenging horse to ride and teaches riders how to handle a horse on the hotter side. She is an excellent teacher because she has expectations of her riders and she helps them rise to the occasion. When a rider can find the right buttons to push, it is oh so rewarding! Her previous hacking and foxhunting experience also makes her a favourite at our Salmon River rural camp! She participates in our training shows and clinics and we can’t wait to take her to some off-property shows this summer. Candy might even have a Musical Ride in her future!
