Our Featured Volunteer of the Month is Bill Fennell

Bill has been a volunteer at Lancers since his wife, Stephanie, started riding here 2 and a half years ago. Although he is not a rider himself, he has enjoyed supporting Stephanie’s riding. He is now also proudly the father of a Lancer, as his daughter, Evelyn, has just started in the Junior Beginner Course after being on the waitlist for a number of years.

Bill has given his time and talents to Lancers in many ways. He helped make horseshoe crafts for the silent auction, is assisting in the repair of the second hay elevator, was a huge asset to our August Clean-Up efforts this summer and also helped assembled our bleachers, which contributes not only to Lancers but the broader community.

Bill and Evelyn share the same favourite Lancer horse, Jake, our oldest and smallest pony. Bill says he enjoys volunteering at Lancers because “it seems that even a small fix makes a big difference to the riders’ enjoyment of the facility and the safety of the horses.”

We are so grateful that Bill and other Lancer family members who participate in volunteer roles that are not directly involved with the horses and are still able to contribute to the Lancer community in meaningful ways.
