Our Featured Adult rider of the Month is Caitlyn Mah!
Caitlyn grew up riding in Antigonish, she had two of her own horses, Candy and Victoria who she competed with in the hunters, jumpers, and eventing. Horses have always been an integral part of Caitlyn’s life. “It’s hard to put into words just how impactful horseback riding has been in my life and I can’t imagine where I would be right now if I hadn’t been involved with horseback riding. Through horseback riding and horse ownership I have learned so much including discipline, dedication, patience, resilience etc., and I have met so many amazing people.”
Caitlyn moved to Halifax in 2019 for work, leaving her two horses at home. Looking for a place to ride, she was drawn to Lancers because of the inclusive environment. A spot opened up and Lancers became a part of Caitlysn life when she needed the magic of horses most, as she had just lost both of her horses the year before “ I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to join and thought I’d at least give it a try. I was really nervous for my first ride as it had been a few years since I had a lesson and my heart was heavy struggling with the idea of riding different horses. After my first ride I felt like Lancers came into my life at the perfect time. The environment was so welcoming I instantly felt like I was part of the Lancers family. Spending time with the horses has been incredibly healing and I’m so glad I made the decision to go for that first Lancers ride.”
Caitlyn is a lovely rider and gets along with any of the horses she rides, she has a soft spot for a chestnut mare so Clementine stands out as a favourite. “Riding continues to have a positive impact on my life thanks to Lancers and my ride at Lancers is always a highlight of my week.”
